We continue our series of episodes discussing the world famous book, Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
This week: Chapter 3 – Faith
The second and third chapters of the book are perhaps the most important, because according to Hill (and to most modern gurus), combining desire and faith is the foundational cornerstone for achieving personal success and wealth.
Last week, we laid out the six steps to take to help you establish your burning desire to achieve what you want to achieve.
This week’s chapter lays out an additional six steps to take to build up your faith in what you desire, even if you have no confidence at the beginning that you can pull it off.
The first step involves stating that you have the ability to achieve what you desire, and demanding of yourself that you will take persistent, continuous action toward its attainment.
The second step is very LOA-related, because it is to conscious recognize and agree that your dominating thoughts will manifest themselves in your experience. Therefore, the second step requires spending 30 minutes per day describing in detail the kind of person you hope to become while in pursuit of your desire.
The third step is a continuation of the second step, because it states that any desire you hold consistently in your mind will eventually lead you to seek some kind of practical means to attain it. So you make an agreement with yourself to spend at least 10 minutes every day thinking about and demanding of yourself self-confidence.
The fourth step is to write down a definite statement of your desire and to promise yourself to keep trying until you have developed sufficient levels of self-confidence.
The fifth step is to promise yourself to only take steps toward your goal that ethically agree with the principles of truth and justice, while promising to avoid any steps that encourage hatred, envy, jealousy, selfishness, and cynicism. You also pledge to gain your new wealth by serving others and by cooperating with others, and not by merely trampling upon others.
And the final step is to agree to sign your name to your own written statement of these steps that you take.
